Your ARPAS meter requires 16 CEU’s each year to stay in the black. If it is not fed, the numbers become red and you get a ticket. Every year in January, the ARPAS traffic cops send out a notice to the negligent few who have not fed the meter. This notice is in the form of a letter or email saying “earn and report your CEU’s or you will be suspended from ARPAS membership”. Earning CEU’s each year is an obligation you incurred when you became an ARPAS member. This is clearly explained in our bylaws (which you may review on our website at www.arpas.org).
It is your responsibility to report your attendance and participation in CEU awarding events. There are many meetings, seminars, conferences, webinars and correspondence opportunities available to you each year which can provide the “coinage” to feed this meter. Your reporting may be done by mail, email or online using our website www.arpas.org. Your new contact at ARPAS is Jeremy Holzner , jholzner@assochq.org and his phone number is 217-356-5390.
An issue with our system is that many of these events have not been pre-approved for ARPAS credit. We can pre-approve some major events such as the national meetings but many of the regional and local meetings must be evaluated on an annual basis as they change in content and duration. These have to be submitted for approval. You can help us by reminding those involved in the management of these activities by asking them to submit the agenda to us for evaluation and assignment of ARPAS CEU’s. If a meeting you attended was not evaluated for ARPAS credit, please send in a copy of the program for evaluation. It is much more efficient for us and less hassle for you if a meeting is approved for ARPAS credit before you attend the meeting.
Our goal is to make sure that all members are fully rewarded for participation in events that are worthy of ARPAS credit and to provide a system for reporting those CEU’s that causes minimal discomfort to you.
Please remember, the responsibility for reporting CEU’s belongs to you.
