2021 Affiliate Society Recognitions and Awards

American Dairy Science Association

Normand St-Pierre, PhD, PAS Dipl. ACAS, of Perdue AgriBusiness, is serving as the vice president of ADSA.

Rich Erdman, PhD, PAS, of the University of Maryland, is serving as the past president of ADSA.

Michel Wattiaux, PhD, PAS, of the University of Wisconsin, was announced as a Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association in 2021.

Marcia Endres, PhD, PAS, of the University of Minnesota, received the 2021 DeLaval Dairy Extension Award.

Jillian Bohlen, PhD, PAS, of the University of Georgia, received the 2021 Hoard’s Dairyman Youth Development Award.

Luiz Ferraretto, PhD, PAS, of the University of Wisconsin, received the 2021 Lallemand Forward Award for Scientific Excellence in Dairy Nutrition.

American Society of Animal Science

Glenn Duff, PhD, PAS, Dipl. ACAS, of New Mexico State University, is serving as the past president of ASAS.

David P. Casper, PhD, PAS, Dipl. ACAS, of Casper’s Calf Ranch, was announced as a Fellow of the American Society of Animal Science in the Industry Category in 2021.

G. Cliff Lamb, PhD, PAS, of Texas A&M University, was announced as a Fellow of the American Society of Animal Science in the Research Category in 2021.

Kelsey Harvey, PhD, Assoc. PAS, of Mississippi State University, received the 2021 Agri-King Outstanding Animal Science Graduate Student Award.

Eric van Heugten, PhD, PAS, Dipl. ACAS, of North Carolina State University, received the 2021 American Feed Industry Association Award in Nonruminant Nutrition Research.

Kenneth J. Stalder, PhD, PAS, Dipl. ACAS, of Iowa State University, received the 2021 United Animal Health Animal Management Award.

Daniel D. Loy, PhD, PAS, of Iowa State University, received the 2021 Zoetis Extension Award.

Zachary E. Carlson, PhD, Assoc. PAS, of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, was named a 2021 ASAS Midwest Section Animal Science Young Scholar.

Elizabeth A. Palmer, MS, Assoc. PAS, of the University of Florida, received the 2021 ASAS Southern Section Emerging Scholar Award.

Jennie L. Ivey, PhD, PAS, of the University of Tennessee, received the 2021 ASAS Southern Section Extension Award.

W. Brandon Smith, PhD, PAS, of Tarleton State University, received the 2021 ASAS Southern Section Outstanding Young Animal Scientist Award–Education.

Jordan Adams, Assoc. PAS, of Oklahoma State University, took 2nd Place in the ASAS Southern Section 2021 Graduate MS 3-Minute Thesis Competition.

Danielle N. Smarsh, PhD, PAS, of The Pennsylvania State University, received the 2021 ASAS Northeast Section Young Scientist Award–Educator.

Anne Laarman, PhD, PAS, of the University of Alberta, received the 2021 CSAS Young Scientist Award, sponsored by the Employees of Masterfeeds LLP, in memory of Shane Carson, Director of Nutrition.

Rachel Carey, MS, Assoc. PAS, of the University of Saskatchewan, received the 2021 CSAS Western Canada Student Ambassador Award.

American Meat Science Association

No ARPAS members received AMSA awards in 2021.

Equine Science Association

Shannon Pratt-Phillips, PhD, PAS, of North Carolina State University, is serving as the vice president of ESS.

Bob Coleman, PhD, PAS, Dipl. ACAS, of the University of Kentucky, serves as the ESS executive director.

Rhonda M. Hoffman, PhD, PAS, Dipl. ACAS, of Middle Tennessee State University, received the 2021 Outstanding Educator Award.

Alyssa Logan, MS, Assoc. PAS, of Michigan State University, took 1st place in the ESS 2021 Exercise Science Graduate Student Competition and received the 2021 Journal of Equine Veterinary Science (JEVS) Graduate Student Publication Award.

Poultry Science Association

No ARPAS members received PSA awards in 2021.

Other Awards

N. Andy Cole, PhD, PAS, Dipl. ACAS, of USDA-ARS (retired), was named a 2021 recipient of the Legends of Feedlot Nutrition by the Plains Nutrition Council.
