ACAS Board Certification Update

The Annual Meeting of ACAS was held in Orlando, FL on July 13, 2015. President Marit Arana announced that a new ACAS color brochure is available a copy will be posted on the website for viewing and printing. The Discipline Committee Chairs will be working to develop and update exams for each of the disciplines. There are over 210 ACAS members with 12 who were approved this past year. Currently there are 13 active applications for ACAS membership. 

Dr. Dale Hill was recognized for his service as Secretary for 11 years to serve as Treasurer for ARPAS. Officers for the coming year are: John K. Bernard, President; Andy Cole, President Elect; Marit Arana, Past President; Luis C. Solorzano, Secretary. Directors for the disciplines are: Allen P. Schinckel, Animal Breeding and Genetics; Jeffrey M. DeFrain, Animal Nutrition; Jonathan Goodson, Animal Physiology; Kenneth W. McMillin, Animal Food Science; and Geoffrey A. H. Cochrane, Animal Welfare Science.


New ACAS Board Certified Members

The American College of Animal Sciences (ACAS), the board certification arm of the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists (ARPAS), is pleased to announce that Jeff Tikofsky and Patrick D. French have attained board certification in the discipline of animal nutrition. Board certification is the highest level of certification accorded to animal scientists by ARPAS. They were recognized by their peers as highly qualified by virtue of their dedication, knowledge, and career accomplishments as an animal scientist.

The American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists (ARPAS) recently announced that Michael Hubbert, Ryan Reuter, and Pablo Gregorini have been awarded board certification in animal nutrition from the American College of Animal Sciences (ACAS) by virtue of their designation as a highly qualified individual. Dr. Pablo Gregorini has also been award board certification in applied animal behavior as a highly qualified individual. ACAS is the board certification college of ARPAS. Qualifications for board certification include current membership in ARPAS, an MS or PhD in animal science or a closely related discipline, and experience as a professional animal scientist. In addition, individuals must also pass a series of examinations or be recognized as a highly qualified professional.
