The American College of Animal Sciences (ACAS), the board certification arm of the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists (ARPAS), is pleased to announce that Dr. James Chapman has attained board certification in the discipline of animal nutrition. Board certification is the highest level of certification accorded to animal scientists by ARPAS. He was recognized by his peers as highly qualified by virtue of his dedication, knowledge, and career accomplishments as an animal scientist.

Dr. James Chapman is the Senior Dairy Technology Manager for Prince Agri Products, Inc. His primary area of responsibility is to develop and implement domestic and international research as it pertains to dairy cattle nutrition, physiology, and immunology. He organizes and coordinates research; manages research trials; develops protocols and budgets, analyzes and evaluates results, and publishes abstracts, technical papers, and peer review publications; and supports marketing, product management, new product development, and also provides technical support and training to regional and international dairy technical specialists.

He received his BS in animal science (1970) and MS (1975) in reproductive physiology from Texas Tech University and his PhD (1978) in ruminant physiology and nutrition from the University of Georgia. Dr. Chapman was a Research Associate in animal and dairy science at North Carolina State University and Assistant Professor of animal science at West Texas State University. He then moved to the animal nutrition industry and has held progressively more responsible positions as a technical services manager, nutritionist, director of nutrition and marketing, director of technical development, ruminant nutritionist, and dairy technology manager. Dr. Chapman has made literally hundreds of professional presentations, site visits and one-on-one engagements with dairy producers, ranchers and fellow animal scientists during his career. He has directed and participated in many research projects for the companies he has served and has written hundreds of technical articles and publications pertaining to the nutrition and physiology of dairy and beef cattle.

Dr. Chapman is a member of the American Society of Animal Sciences (ASAS) and the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA). He became a member of the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists (ARPAS) in 1981and has served on the ethics committee.
