Websites are the best sources of up-to-date information on the rules and regulations governing the management and care of laboratory animals. In addition to the sites listed below, many university websites have excellent resources and links for animal use and care.

Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, National Research Council (2011) provides a framework for the judgments required in the management of animal facilities. The guide can be viewed free online (one chapter at a time) or purchased from the National Academy Press

The Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) is a private, nonprofit organization that promotes the humane treatment of animals in science through voluntary accreditation and assessment programs. The AAALAC site also has links to valuable reference resources for laboratory animal care and use programs.
